ODDS CALCULATOR
Odds calculator
The two key components of the betting industry are the odds and the stake. You multiply one with the other, when a bet is won, to calculate the amount that the bettor will receive. The better the odds, the greater the amount. It’s the cornerstone of the services of Asian and European bookmakers. However, there is an issue here that mostly completely novice and inexperienced players face.
While the calculation of the payout may be easy for the decimal system, not everyone is used to it and not every betting establishment uses it. For example, most bookmakers that operate in the UK or the commonwealth countries use the fractional system by default, except the Americans who have devised and use their own. With the introduction of the Asian gambling houses, three more systems have been introduced. Those of Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Is it confusing?
Europeans that are used to the decimal system and choose to place their wagers somewhere in Asia, have a difficulty adjusting. The same thing happens with anyone who suddenly find themselves using a system they are not used with. While, most online betting houses do have an option to change the format of the odds, that option very rarely covers all six systems.
To provide a solution on this issue, an app was devised – THE ODDS CALCULATOR. It actually does two things:
- Convert odds from one format to the other
- Calculates payouts
The first part takes advantage of the actual mathematical formulas that make the conversion from one system to the other. The second part is a simple multiplication. Yet, another useful tool in our series of presentations of the services you can use to make your betting live easier.
As time passes by and you get more and more acquainted with the intricacies of the different odds formats, you may be able to do the calculations on your own, at least for a rough estimate. However, for those that enter the gambling world for the first time, or have not yet learned the ropes, it is a tool they will use after they open a betting account with a broker.
