THINGS TO REMEMBER
This was the first time an official Logo containing the name of the host country and the last two numbers of the year was introduced. This format lasted until the new millennia, where all four digits of the year begun being implemented.
The tournament marked the last time that the original Jules Rimet Trophy was going to be used, and since Brazil won it for the third time, they earned the right to keep it. Unfortunately, it was stolen 13 years later never to be found again. The Brazilian team that participated and won this edition, is considered as the greatest in history. They not only maintained a perfect record during the competition, but also defeated Italy and Uruguay (both of them two-time world champions) and defending champions England. Finally, Mário Zagallo became the first person to win the World Cup both as a player (1958 and 1962) and as a coach (1970), while Pelé became the first player to win it three times.
